Although born in Canada his family travelled a lot as his father, a geologist, moved around the world. He spent time growing up in Princeton, New Jersey, Washinhgton D.C., Maryland, and Switzerland before settling down in Vancouver. Bruce attended UBC and for a short time was lead singer in a coverband. Bruce Greenwood received Genie nominations for his roles in Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter, both directed by Atom Egoyan.
