And now for TV's most challenging role since Michael St. Gerard had to master Elvis's hip gyrations...Bruce Greenwood mimics the motions of late Beach Boy drummer Dennis Wilson for his part in this week's "The Story of the Beach Boys: Summer Dreams" (April 29). Greenwood will not actually be playing the drums for the ABC TV-movie, which does not use any of the Beach Boys' actual recordings, but the actor took such a liking to the instrument, he says, "It was a great excuse to go out and buy myself a drum kit. On my days off from the movie, I'd hammer the skins mercilessly. I drove my neighbors mad." Greenwood recently bought a new house and expects to drive his new neighbors just as mad: he's continuing to work out on the drums, hoping to play in some casual jam sessions this summer. "The drummer can get so physically enthusiastic; drumming can be really infectious." Of course, he adds, "I haven't asked if the neighbors agree." Sounds like they wouldn't.
