Internet Interviews |
Bruce Greenwood was interviewed in Canada on the eve of the Racing Stripes release by One Network, a website dealing with Canadian entertainment. Although his interviewer was seen and heard, she was not identified. A transcript follows:
HOST: So, would you say it was difficult working with the animals on the set? BG: Well, we had to be careful, as you know, from getting bitten. And I got bitten and I got kicked. HOST: Did you really? BG: Yeah, the baby, too. You know, you're petting away [demonstrates with his hand] or feeding them and you'll take the bottle away and bang! They'll have a grip on your arm or finger- HOST: Telling you what they want BG: Uh huh; Or just saying, 'I'm just tired of your company.' HOST: No More of you. So, did it put you behind schedule or were you OK with the shooting with the animals? BG: No, in fact, we've got a bunch of stuff on our gag reel of me being kicked around - basically, having the tar kicked out of me by a 3-month-old zebra. Put me down and kicked the living hell outta me. HOST: Oh, that's funny. That's a riot. I'd like to see that. [Shifting to new question] You play a lot of villains. BG: I do play a lot of villains, but I'm not playing villaiins right NOW - um, like Being Julia, I'm not a villain, with Annette Bening. I'm not a villain in World's Fastest Indian that I did with Anthony Hopkins. I'm not a villain in Capote, which I'm doing with Philip Seymour-Hoffman. And I'm doing another movie with Madeleine Stowe and I'm not a villain in that. So maybe things are changing....Maybe Nolan Walsh in Racing Stripes is the first of the good guys after all the bad guys. HOST: Well, you were kind of a good guy, but kind of stubborn, too. BG: Yeah, sure, sure, but stubborn and bad guy are not exactly bedmates. HOST: Being a woman, we just want what we want. BG: And that's not stubborn? HOST: [We want you to] Just be nice! BG: [Sitting up in amazement] He's not nice? HOST: He's stubborn! To his daughter! BG: He's scared for her! He doesn't want her to grow up! He wants to protect her! Cause her Mum was killed riding horses! Can you blame him? HOST: All right, I'll give you that. You were so nice. BG: Does he finally roll over? And let her blossom? Is that not the point of the movie? HOST: Like a good man does. BG: Yeah HOST: Yeah Ends with a clip of the movie.
