E! Online and Upcoming Movies came up with stories a day after the Yahoo / Daily Variety report that had a completely different take on Bruce's withdrawal from Basic Instinct 2. If their reports are true, Bruce may still be aboard and the entire production simply moved back to the Summer or Fall.....but who really knows?

Bruce Greenwood could be going from playing the President in Thirteen Days to Sharon Stone's target in Basic Instinct 2. After a string of leading men passed on the sequel, Greenwood has stepped into negotiations and is reportedly nearing a deal. However, he won't be available until he wraps the WWII haunted submarine thriller Below (which begins shooting in the U.K. in March), meaning BI2 won't likely shoot until after the expected actors strike.

Upcoming Movies February 12, 2001 2/12/01) As a coda to the Greenwood talks, he has signed on for Below, filling up completely his pre-strikes time. Variety reports that he's still in some sort of talks for this project, though if he signed, that would push the production to post-strikes. Another possibility, of course, is that they could still find someone else to star, but their short list might be getting too short.
