ET 13 Days interview

December 29, 2000

One of a series of interviews Bruce did on his press tour while wearing the familiar grayish plaid jacket, correspondent Julie Moran worked one-on-one with both him and Steven Culp in a segment that was short but almost exclusively devoted to the "two actors playing the Kennedys."

What surprized you most about JFK? What was it like playing an icon? My fellow citizens Bruce Greenwood plays JFK

Julie Moran: What was it like to play an icon like JFK?

Bruce Greenwood: It's mostly about losing sleep.

Julie Moran: Steven Culp is Robert F. Kennedy; Bruce Greenwood is his brother, President John F. Kennedy. The actors credit Kevin Costner, who produced the film and played the political advisor, for helping htem grasp the heroism of JFK and Bobby.

Julie Moran: What surprized you most in your research about JFK?

Bruce Greenwood: His ability to hold at arms length all the incredible pressure he was receiving to pull the trigger.

Julie Moran: The actors also fought their own battles with each other. But it involved who was better at that famous Kennedy accent.

Steven Culp: Bruce and I would call each other periodically and do dueling Kennedys. And to see who would crack first. And I have to say, it was usually me!
