Inside Entertainment - a Canadian entertainment news show - featured Bruce Greenwood and his movie The Republic of Love during the weekend preceeding the film's release. A transcript with the host Su-Ling Goh follows and additional photos will be provided soon:
SL.G.: Well, Vancouver's Bruce Greenwood has no shortage of offers from Hollywood studios but the actor came home to Canada to film The Republic of Love and it was definitely a labor of love for Bruce.
clip from The Republic of Love SL.G.: A radio D.J. unexpectedly finds romance in The Republic of Love.
B.G.: Its a good idea that its coming out at Valentine's Day, too 'cause its a, you know, a sweet story about people who, you know, (puts on pleading voice) its time already, let me be in love.
clip from The Republic of Love SL.G.: Based on the novel by Carol Shields, Republic isn't exactly a fairy tale. Stars Bruce Greenwood and Emilia Fox stumble into their relationship sharing some awkward dating moments with the audience.
B.G.: Some of those, what happens to singles when you meet somebody and you take them home and and you think, Ewooo no, I won't be doing that again, you know, that was a lot of fun.
clip from The Sweet Hereafter and Thirteen Days SL.G.: Fun and funny aren't adjectives usually associated with a Bruce Greenwood movie. Some of his biggest hits have been pretty heavy roles so Bruce jumped at the chance to lighten up onscreen.
B.G.: I'm so identified with being, you know, one of those guys who's pretty serious (pretends to fall asleep and snores) and always with a, you know, a hidden agenda. I'm going to steal you wife or your money or both and um, I just wanted to play a guy who's happy.
