(Canadian television series / CBC / aired 4/30/86)
Bruce Greenwood appeared twice in this very popular half-hour
Canadian television series that centers around the adventures of a marine biologist and his family as they fight environmental crimes in Canada. Greenwood's first appearance came late in the show's first season. He took on the leading guest role of Sam Hayes, a representative of the ecological Evergreen Foundation, which is attempting to bring more responsibility to the timber industry. His outreach to local loggers is met with harsh resistence until an attempt is made on his life by two illegal loggers bringing most of the other men to begrudgingly accept his efforts. As was usual in this series, star Donnelly Rhodes got all the action, but the simple story uses a young, blond Greenwood to nice advantage in a statement the ecologically sensitive actor no doubt appreciated.
Timber was episode 16, filmed in 1985 and airing near the end of the first season, which ran from October 1985 to May 1986. A second season ran over the summer and Greenwood's second Danger Bay appearance - in October of 1986 - fell at the beginning of the third season. The series ran until 1990 and is still shown in syndication year 'round in Canada.
Produced in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The
Disney Channel and Telefilm Canada.
