Gish, Maffia may be in 'Jeopardy"
by Andrew Hindes and Chris Petrikin
Daily Variety 6/23/98

Annabeth Gish and Roma Maffia are in talks to join Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd in Paramount's "Double Jeopardy." The Bruce Beresford-helmed pic tells the story of a woman (Judd) whose husband fakes his own death and frames her for the murder. Jones plays a parole officer assigned to her case after she is released from prison.

Gish will play the woman's best friend, who knows more about the plot than she lets on; Maffia plays a cynical inmate who befriends Judd's character.

The pic, produced by Leonard Goldberg, starts shooting in mid-July in Vancouver. David Weisberg and Douglas S. Cook wrote the script.

Maffia co-stars on NBC's "Profiler." Her deal was negotiated by ICM's Tracey Brennan and manager Steven Hanks.

Gish's film credits include "Beautiful Girls," "The Last Supper," "Nixon" and "Wyatt Earp." She was repped by ICM's Eddy Yablans and Joan Hyler of Hyler Management.
