(1995 direct-to-video movie)
A slight but tight direct-to-video mystery, Bruce Greenwood plays Tom Cavenaugh, a wise-cracking plain clothes detective, whose casual attire and flippant manner cannot disguise his obvious abilities nor his biased loyalties to his attractive partner (and one time lover) Kris Anderson, played by top billed Patsy Kensit. She is a tough, hard-boiled detective, but her psychic abilities along with her highly ill-advised affair with their chief suspect (3rd billed Andrew McCarthy) is severely compromising their current case -- the homicide of a prominent female politician. The most likely murderer is her husband, an obscure painter with a slick personality who came on to Kris at the art exhibition held on the very night of his wife's murder. Tom suspects him immediately, but as he and Kris follow the obvious clues, her visions seriously muddle their investigation, until Cavenaugh realizes the killer is using Kit's paranormal insights to his (or her) own advantage.
Greenwood is amusingly attractive in a mostly comedic role, making much of a part that has a great deal of appeal. There's quite a bit of nudity (not him) and violence, but this is a surprisingly entertaining little film with an unexpected twist near the end. The film's obscurity enabled Greenwood to experiment with a very strange, miniscule goatee. Still available on video, but there's no DVD. Dream Man Productions; Distributed by Republic Pictures, Int.
