(1999 independent feature film)

Bruce Greenwood plays Bo, a criminal with integrity who's talked into a new "job" by an old pal (played by top billed Alec Baldwin) in this independent feature that debuted at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by first time helmer Scott Sanders, this comedic crime thriller is loosely based on the novel by Patrick Quinn.

The complex plot concerns a double cross among thieves resulting in a series of vengeful retaliations. Greenwood's role is played for laughs as the caustic best friend of the betrayed thief, who agrees to join his buddy to seek revenge against the crime boss who tried to have him killed. Although the film moves along with energy and good humor, a complicated storyline shortchanges this friendship, focusing more on the amusing antics of the African American gang that wronged them. There's lots of profanity and violence before our "heroes" prevail in a far-too-complicated plot that nevertheless delivers strongly on atmosphere and punch.

Filmed in the Spring of 1998, the film had a stormy distribution history. It was screened in Los Angeles and London in October 1998 and premiered on January 28 at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah where it was purchased by Rogue Pictures (a genre division of October Films). Through them the film made the festival circuit, but plans for the feature's release were interrupted by the sale of October Films to USA Pictures. In the shake-up, the movie was sold to Dream Works, but they delayed two 1999 release dates and finally sold it to HBO where it eventually premiered on January 15, 2000.

Released on video and DVD on July 18, 2000.
