(1994 made-for-tv movie; originally aired 9/25/94 on CBS)
A super sudsy romp based on a popular Harlequin romance, Bruce Greenwood plays Jason Hollister, the older son of a rich and powerful family (headed by Tippi Hedren as his mother) that's world famous for breeding prestigious race horses. Anne Marie Carr (played effectively by top billed Emma Samms) is a photo-journalist who suspects he's the man responsible for her brother's death and decides to go undercover to investigate. Of course she falls in love with him! Who wouldn't?
The first (and most widely publicized) of the made-for-tv Harlequin romance series, this was originally envisioned as a prime time movie-of-the-week but was moved to build a Sunday afternoon audience on CBS. Both this airing and the evening telecast that followed had terrific ratings for them. It's a blatant soap opera with a typically absurd script and an implausible denouément, but none of that matters at all. Greenwood is the blond and tanned hero, incredibly good-looking just as he's suppose to be in a charming performance, much of it minus his shirt and all of it with a terrific twinkle in his eye! Anyone with an ounce of romance will love it!
It was filmed on location inToronto during the summer of 1994 and shown on CBS less than two months later, a surprizingly quick turnover for a tv film.
Aired often over The Romance Channel, the entire Harlequin series has been promised on video but has never been officially released though copies can be ordered directly from Harlequin.
