Bruce Greenwood sings "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" | | The Motown Meltdown program |
The Motown Meltdown is one of several annual fund raisers produced by The Shooting Stars Foundation in support of AIDS victims. This particular event features "rockers, jazzers, folkies, soulsters and popsters doing motown." Bruce Greenwood
performed on stage for them in 2005, the third year they featured the Motown Meltdown show, and he sang one song - "Ain't Too Proud to Beg". The event was held at the Commodore Ballroom on Granville Island, a huge hall that holds over 1,000 people, and it was completely filled that night!
30 performers were onstage backed by "the best Motown players in the city." A complete list of participants is included here along with Bruce's biography:

DUH!
"So, this morning, I'm sitting in my kitchen in my underwear, reading your
column," chuckles bluesman Jim Byrnes, greeting me backstage at the
Commodore at last Saturday night's Motown Meltdown, "and I nearly fell off
my chair."
Why?
Well, it seems this columnist screwed up the dates for the show, writing
that it had happened on Friday night. Byrnes thought for a moment he might
have missed his gig. He wasn't the only one; everybody that night had read
the thing and thought I must have lost my mind.
I apologize to anyone who didn't show up Saturday because of my goof.
The show, a Shooting Stars Foundation benefit for direct service AIDS
agencies, was a huge success.
A sea of rhythm and blues fans swayed to the music performed by a
super-hot band of local musicians, including pianist Michael Creber and
solos from 30 or so singers including Byrnes (Baby, Baby), Bill Henderson
(Get Ready), Kia Kadiri (Papa Was a Rolling Stone), Bruce Greenwood (Ain't
Too Proud to Beg) and Babz Chula (You Beat Me To The Punch). Lynda Boyd,
who flew up from pilot auditions in L.A. to emcee with Terry David
Mulligan, said it was the most fun she'd had in years. Agreed.
