STAR TREK XI
in production in Los Angeles

Bruce Greenwood is working on the next installment of the Star Trek series.  He has been cast as Christopher Pike, the first captain of the Starship Enterprise.  The film, directed by J. J. Abrams, focuses on the early days of the original Star Trek characters, including their days at Starfleet Academy and their first space mission.  Production began in November 2007.  The release date has been moved from Christmas Day to May 8, 2009.

NATIONAL TREASURE 2
Released December 21, 2007

Bruce Greenwood took a short hiatus from the filming of his HBO series John From Cincinnati  to travel to Washington, D.C., to film his role in National Treasure 2, a sequel to the mega-hit starring Nicholas Cage. The plot is centered around the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, but Bruce plays a present day President of the United States in the film. Shooting began in late March with Jon Turtletaub returning as director and Jerry Bruckheimer aboard again as producer.

I'M NOT THERE
World premiere at Venice Film Festival
Limited release scheduled for November 21, 2007

Bruce Greenwood has dual roles in this unique project conceived by young director Todd Haynes, who won plaudits three years ago for his movie, Far from Heaven. In this highly anticipated venture, six different actors (including one woman) portray different aspects of folk singer Bob Dylan. Three of the more high profile actors portraying Dylan are Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Cate Blanchett. Bruce signed on in late July, 2006 shortly after production began and flew to Montreal in early August to join the filming, in which he's enacting two parts based on Bob Dylan lyrics - a pompous British TV host named "Mr. Jones" opposite Cate Blanchett and gunslinger Pat Garrett opposite Richard Gere.

The film received the inaugural Robert Altman Award, given to a film's director, casting director and its ensemble cast, at Film Independent's Spirit Awards on Saturday, February 23, 2008.

Coming Soon

THE SUMMIT
 in post-production

Another upcoming project is a new miniseries for CBC and Global called The Summit. Shot in Toronto and at various locations around Ontario as well as in London (UK) and Ecuador, the series is produced by Robert Cohen for Shaftesbery Films.  Cast members include Christopher Plummer, James Purefoy, Mia Maestro and Wendy Crewson.

Firehouse Dog - in which Bruce Greenwood portrays the father of a rebellious boy who befriends a movie star dog - was released as a DVD on July 31st.

Future Projects

Bruce Greenwood has purchased screen rights to Stanley Park, the award-winning novel by Timothy Taylor, a Vancouver-based novelist who's currently working on the screenplay. The screenplay is still not completely set, so production has been moved back to next summer. Bruce will produce but probably not star in the filmed version.
