THE CORE is a departure for Bruce Greenwood -- a science fiction action film, in which he plays an heroic astronaut in charge of a mission to save the world by boring into the core of the earth to detonate an atomic bomb and put the earth's core back in sync. Although his performance is somewhat buried amid the multitude of other characters, this is an attractive role and should please his fans. The video and DVD were released on September 9, 2003 and are readily available, although the VHS remains priced expensively for rental. The DVD is available in two formats - widescreen and full screen. Both include the trailer, deleted scenes with incidental shots of Greenwood and a short featurette on the making of the movie, in which his character can also be seen. Unfortunately, there are no interviews.
