One of Bruce Greenwood's favorite and most complex movies, the award-winning EXOTICA was released on video in 1996, about two years after its first performances in Cannes and Canada and about a year after its U.S. distribution. A must-see role for all Greenwood fans, the video is available virtually everywhere and at reasonable prices, too. Marketed irresponsibly as a sex romp by Miramax, it's constantly listed in the online auctions, as well, so has become one of the very easiest videos to obtain. The DVD is disappointing with minimal extras, though writer/director/producer Egoyan has recently released it with different packaging.

Although it's valuable to have this pristinely perfect copy of the movie, Miramax has provided no special features with their DVD release of Exotica. The American distributors have long been praised for their marketing of this financially successful film, but they remain obtusely unaware of its intrinsic artistic merits. Hopefully other more enlightened DVD versions of this uniquely beautiful and complexly intricate feature film will be released at a later date.
