Although this 1991 NBC movie aired as THE GREAT PRETENDER, it was originally envisioned as the 1989 pilot for a series called DEAD END BRATTIGAN to star Bruce Greenwood as a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist being punished by his boss with the dead end files. It's a fun movie with Bruce assuming various guises in quest of that great story, so this is a title all fans will want. Sadly, it's never been officially released as either a videocassette or a DVD in North America, and even though it's listed as a PAL videocassette in a few sources (using the series title: DEAD END BRATTIGAN), it's not all that easy to actually come up with the video. It's never popped up on eBay either. | |  |
