Bruce Greenwood appeared in the very first episode ever made of THE HITCHHIKER, never suspecting the show would become a cable hit along the way. In it he played the philandering husband of a much older (and very rich) woman, whose plans to become her widower go strangely awry. THE HITCHHIKER series is beginning to be offered in the DVD format in both Canada and the U.S., but only the Canadian version so far includes Bruce's episode, in the volume entitled "The Hitchhiker - The Complete First Season," available from Canadian Amazon.com. There's also a hard-to-find VHS cassette called Dead-Time Stories which was produced in Canada and later released in the PAL format in Europe, each set culled from episodes of the show. Shattered Vows - the episode in which Bruce Greenwood appeared - was showcased in (and on the cover of) volume 2. Since this was one of Bruce's very earliest television performances it's something most collector's will want to own. |
