SUMMER DREAMS: THE STORY OF THE BEACH BOYS is a seminal role for Bruce Greenwood, a turning point in his artistic reputation. He plays doomed Beach Boy Dennis Wilson from his troubled teenaged years till his drowning death at 39. It's a highly regarded performance that most fans will want to own. The video for this 1990 TV movie was released in 1994 and is now out-of-print and very difficult to find through traditional outlets. It pops up in stores selling used versions, however, and also makes the auctions quite regularly, so it can still be obtained. This one's worth the extra effort. It airs often, as well, but there is some nudity in the commercial version that differs from the broadcast version. It's never been released as a DVD but is available in both NTSC and PAL versions. |
